The Azrieli Fellows Program supports outstanding doctoral, postdoctoral, and early-career faculty at Israel’s leading academic institutions. The program promotes cutting edge research in all academic disciplines, and fosters leadership, community engagement, professional development, and a vibrant multidisciplinary network of academics from Israel and around the world.
Position Summary
The Azrieli Fellows Program seeks a Wellbeing Officer, responsible for leading all aspects of Fellows’ welfare, integration, and community engagement. The role combines personal support with administrative coordination and emphasizes direct personal connection. This is a full-time position based in Tel Aviv, with regular travel to university campuses across Israel (about two days per week). The position also requires some evening availability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ongoing Support and Wellbeing
Provide individual support and follow-up for International and Israeli Fellows located at Israeli academic institutions, facing academic, personal, or logistical difficulties.
Handle emergencies or crises with sensitivity and discretion.
Facilitate group sessions such as the Postdoctoral Support Group and other group-based initiatives.
Maintain accurate records of meetings and contact with Fellows in the program’s CRM system.
2. Absorption of International Postdoctoral Fellows
Coordinate onboarding and integration for incoming international postdocs. and visiting PhD Fellows.
Accompany new Fellows to government offices, banks, and other institutions as needed, and provide practical support with housing, documentation, and other logistical needs.
Coordinate with university international offices and administrative staff.
3. Volunteer Program Coordination
Manage the Fellows’ community volunteering requirement.
Oversee communication, approval, documentation, and verification processes, and assist Fellows in finding suitable placements.
4. Social and Community Activities
Plan and coordinate social gatherings, informal meetups, and community-building events throughout the year.
Support the social dimensions of academic and professional program activities.
5. Recruitment and Selection
Participate in interviews and selection processes for new Fellows, offering input from a wellbeing perspective.
6. Team and Administrative Support
Support the Fellowship team at events and contribute to their smooth operation.
Provide flexible assistance with tasks as assigned by the Fellowship Manager, including occasional projects outside the core scope of the role.
Qualifications
Master’s degree required (fields such as social work, psychology, counselling, educational counselling, or occupational therapy preferred).
Proven experience in welfare, wellbeing, or community engagement.
Comfortable working in an international environment.
Training in group facilitation — an advantage.
Familiarity with Israeli higher education institutions — strong advantage.
Comfortable with administrative systems, spreadsheets, and CRM documentation.
Fluent in Hebrew and English, spoken and written.
Willingness to travel frequently nationwide.
Availability for occasional evening activities.
